Superslender 2 The Superslender 1 apartment had a conventional internal layout despite being determined by symmetrical shear walls creating a rigid structure. The height of the building would be limited by the acceptable inconvenience of the single elevator being out of action due to maintenance. Adding another elevator increases the floor plate area.. Superslender II claws back some of that area by opening elevators directly into the apartment. The elevator lobby doubles as primary circulation space but is private in that occupants can enter and leave the apartment without passing through living areas. Occupants have equal access to dining, living and cooking areas and the kitchen doubles as a corridor linking dining and living areas so the lobby stays private. The layout has been designed for maximum structural rigidity but is more suitable for house-shares and co-housing than was Superslender I.
