A building does not have to be a superslender such as The Factory or Superslender I and II proposals for a critical structure to impose rigidity upon a plan. This seven storey apartment building is constructed from mud brick in order to minimize embodied carbon.
There is no elevator. There are no risers or shafts as all utilities are exposed on the rear wall where they connect directly to kitchens and bathrooms. All rooms are naturally lit and ventilated. There is a floor efficiency of 84.9%. The load bearing structure cannot be altered and so (as with the Universal Apartment proposals) openings to the internal stairwell can be blocked or unblocked to configure apartments of different sizes for arbitrary household compositions and tenancies with each apartment retaining separate access.
